District Governor Update – November

Here we are in November—can you believe it’s already been almost five months? Time is flying! I'm excited to share a few key updates as we continue to build momentum across our District.

District Directories

The District Directories are being finalized! We will distribute copies as soon as we can!

Our District Team has now visited 26 of our 38 clubs, and I have to say—I'm incredibly inspired by the energy, service, and heart I see across our District. Thank you to our entire District Team for your dedication and support!

Peace Poster Contest

Clubs participating in the Peace Poster Contest, please note:

Deadline to submit your winning posters is November 15, 2025.

Posters must be postmarked by that date and received by the District Governor.

Your Peace Poster Chair is Lion Annie Chau. Reach out to her if you have any questions.

Student Speaker Contest

The topic this year is:

“Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe?”

It’s a timely and engaging topic that should spark great discussions. If your club hasn’t yet been matched with a school and would still like to host a contest, please contact me, I’ll work with you and our District Student Speaker Co-Chairs, Lion Skip Zehnder and Lion Michelle Heckle, to get you set up.

All contest dates should be finalized before your club hosts its first round.

Diabetes Awareness Month

November is Diabetes Awareness Month. Our District Diabetes Chair, Lion Raymon Oliver, will be sending out educational content and upcoming event details. Please be on the lookout and share this information through your club websites, newsletters, social media, and with your local communities.

Thank you, Lions, for your continued passion and service. Together, we are making a difference every single day!

In service,

DG Laxmi Chaudhari

District 4-C3

We Serve is the motto of Lions Clubs International and it is the goal of every Lion in District 4-C3 to see that we fulfill this goal.

Support Lions in this effort. Support Lions with your donations of used eyeglasses, used hearing aids, small ink cartridges, donations to one of our projects or foundations.

Being a Lion is about leading by example, building relationships and improving the world through kindness. It’s 1.4 million caring men and women serving together so they can make a lasting impact and change more lives

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • Who Are the Lions?

Lions serve. It’s that simple, and it has been since we first began in 1917. Our clubs are places where individuals join together to give their valuable time and effort to improving their communities and the world.

  • What Do Lions Do?

Lions work together to serve blind, vision impaired and needy clients, to raise funds for their charitable activities, and to conduct club business.  Individual clubs meet on a regular schedule to plan and carry out their activities, for fun and fellowship, and (usually) for a meal and a program of general interest.  Each year, most clubs hold one or more fund raisers for the general public.

  • What Causes Do Lions Support?

While each Lions club has its own service focus, there are five global causes of particular interest around the world. These are areas of need identified, and voted on, by members and supported by our association and foundation. Our focus areas are:  Diabetes, Environment, Hunger, Childhood Cancer, Disaster Relief, Humanitarian Needs and Vision.

  • Where Do Lions Funds Come From?

Lions Clubs International (LCI) is a 501(c)(4) tax-exempt social welfare organization and is not eligible to accept or solicit charitable donations. All donations accepted on lionsclubs.org support Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), which is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charitable organization. LCI and LCIF are EEO providers.  Individual Lions clubs hold fundraisers such as crab feeds, restaurant walks, garage sales, barbecues, walk-a-thon, bowl-a-thon, carnivals and  contributions.

  • Do Lions Collect Used Eyeglasses?

Most Lions Clubs in the United States collect used eyeglasses for reprocessing and distribution to needy persons throughout the world. Area collection points are listed here.  Instructions for donation outside our District can be found here.

  • Do Lions Collect Used Hearing Aids?

Lions of District 4-C3 collect used hearing aids to be reprocessed for distribution to needy persons.  Used hearing aids may be deposited in Lions Eyeglass Collection Boxes.

  • What Else Do Lions Collect?

Local Lions collect used ink cartridges, food for local food banks and holiday baskets, back packs with school supplies, soap and shampoo for the homeless and Veterans.

  • Is there someone I can talk to about becoming a Lion?

Yes!  Please email 4c3LionsMembership@gmail.com or call 925.257.2003
