Lions support many Foundations and Projects, through their Clubs, through their Districts and individually. Check out some of our recent activities. This District's major projects are listed below.
Lions In Sight of California and Nevada (LIS)
Collection, processing and distribution of used eyeglasses and hearing aids for those in need.
Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF)
Collects and distributes funds to carry out humanitarian projects locally and throughout the world such as eradicating River Blindness, responding to major catastrophes such as floods and earthquakes and building schools and health clinics.
Summer Camp for deaf and hard of hearing youth ages 6 through 15. Camps are located in Nevada City (northern California) and near Wrightwood (southern California).
A full day outing for children and adults with emotional, developmental and/or physical disabilities residing in our District and their parents, siblings and caregivers. The day includes Petting Zoo, Games, Motorcycle rides with pictures, Face Painting, Jump House, Hayrides, lunch, Gift bags, Music, Entertainment, Snow Cones, Cotton Candy, Ice Cream, Crafts and much more. Most activities are run by local Lions Clubs and their members. This annual event is a big hit for the Lions as well as the kids.
Lions throughout California sponsor contests among high school students speaking on a patriotic topic. Local contest winners advance to Regional and District contest and so on until an overall winner is selected. Prizes and Scholarships totaling $100,000.00 are awarded to the contestants.
